New construction A4 Magdala - Jena/Göschwitz

The planning of the A4 has already started during the Weimar Republic in 1925. During the Third Reich the construction work started. The A4 runs from the Dutch border to North Rhine-Westphalia. After a gap it continues at the Kirchenheimer interchange and leads to the East passing cities like Erfurt, Weimar and Dresden and finally to the Polish border over Görlitz.

In 2008 the new construction of the A4 with six lanes started between the interchange Magdala and Jena/Göschwitz. With approx. 12 km length and including noise abatement measures this is one of the largest traffic infrastructure projects in Germany. One of the outstanding construction work is the approx. 3 km long Jagdberg tunnel with a max. covering of approx. 134 m.

The total cost of this project accumulates to approx. 294 Mio €. Impressing 3,8 Mio m3 of excevation material and soil are to be moved. Since 2008 BRK, as partner of the construction company, has been responsible for all surveying tasks in this huge project

BKR has also been very successful with the implementation and administration of the as-built data to the CAD system MicroStation on basis of a custom-made data model. BKR has as well supported the involved companies in using this application.
